Whether one is Catholic, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Zoroastrian, Hindu, Buddhist, agnostic, atheist, or not, it does not matter. All you need be is human. Benedict XVI’s thought is plainly immersed in orthodox Catholic Tradition, however, he is a brilliant scholar highly educated in the best of cultures world wide. He evaluates and explicates that Hope which all human hearts naturally long for. In truth he takes stock of the joys and sorrows faced by all people who pass through life on planet earth. He provides insights and proposes answers that realistically correspond to reality as it is. I wager there is no better treatment of the subject so succinct and so sufficient as “On Hope” by pope Benedict XVI. Any given reader may or may not agree with everything, on the other hand I strongly suspect that most readers will benefit in some, if not, most ways from meditating on this short work.
